On 22-23 October 2019 in Forest Research Institute took place a first National First National LiDAR User Forum – POLSCAN, which gathered approximately 250 participants. They were a representation of contractors, commissioning parties, technology providers, science and students.

The Forum was divided into seven technical sessions and two breakout sessions. During the Forum OPEGIEKA’s employees has given the presentations: Dominik Mielczarek – „Usage of Riegl VQ-1560i-DW in order to quickly identify invasive species in riverside forests by the example of box elders”, dr Bogusław Kaczałek – “Classification of multispectral aerial laser scanning data using Random Forests algorithm” and Jakub Krawczyk – sponsorship session. Adam Augustynowicz shared his thoughts during a breakout session about the future of laser scanning.

Both results of the survey run at the end of the Forum and attendance prove that on the Polish LiDAR market there is a real need of the dialogue and experience exchange in order to create good practice while executing LiDAR projects.
